How should I prepare for the workshop?
For the workshop we recommend you to wear a long-sleeve cotton shirt and closed shoes. If you have long hair, tie it up. It will be hot in the studio, especially in summer, so bring a bottle of drinking water. Do I need to pay Skansen's entrance fee to participate in a workshop? If you are here only for the workshop, you don't need to buy a ticket. However, we offer a half-price entrance for workshops participants who want to walk around Skansen. Make sure to inform us which alternative you chose and go to the Skansen's special entrance on the left side of the gate and tell your name and visit purpose to get in. If you do not let us know your choice in advance, we assume you will only visit the glass studio and leave Skansen after the workshop. Do I need to pay Skansen's entrance fee to visit the glass studio? If you want to visit Stockholms Glasbruk to purchase or pick up your glass, discuss commission work, or for any other reason, there are a few alternatives. Contact us in advance and let us know the planned time and the reason for your visit. If you did not give us a specific time, go to the main entrance and buy a ticket. Tell them you want to visit only the glass studio and keep the receipt. You can ask for reimbursement if you come back to the main entrance in 30 min. Is there an age limit for the participants? Our recommended age limit is 10 years, but we can also instruct younger children and help them a little more than adults if we think they need it. Will there be other participants at the same time as me? All the bookings are individual and there will be only the participants from your group. However, our studio is open for visitors and there might be people watching how you blow glass from the gallery. Do I need to have any previous experience in glass blowing? No, the workshops are suited for beginners with no experience. If you have prior experience, we can make your course more advanced. What does 60 min workshop include and can I book more than 60 min for one person? You will pay for the time used, not per item made. That means you don't have to limit your imagination. You can try to make anything you want during this workshop. You can make several items from a standard selection. However, we encourage you to bring your ideas and discuss the possibilities with the instructor on the spot. You can book two or more hours to try more advanced glass blowing. Can I share the 60 min workshop with a friend/family member? We recommend this workshop for group of max two people. You will get at least 30 min each. You can also share time making one item together as teamwork. Can I bring small children with me to watch? Yes, as long as someone can look after them. Children of any age are welcome to learn about glass blowing. Please don't leave small children unsupervised in the hot shop. May I bring my pet with me? No pets are allowed in Skansen. The only dogs allowed are assistance dogs. Dogs assisting disabled guests should be properly vaccinated and wear a vest. When and how do I pick up the items that I made? The glass items will slowly cool down in the annealing oven to prevent the glass from cracking. You can pick up your glass two days later. When you come to pick up your items, show us the receipt/note that you receive after the workshop. We will keep your glass items ready for pick up for max 6 months after the workshop. After 6 months we recycle your glass items. If you can't come or send someone to the studio after the workshop, discuss shipping possibilities with our staff on the spot. Additional shipping fees will apply. |
